Giclee prints and canvas photos November 18, 2008

Giclee prints are another name that canvas printing companies give to canvas prints.

Giclee (pronounced “gee-clay”) is a French verb meaning “to spray” or “to squirt”. This describes the method that the ink jet printer lays the ink down on to the canvas surface. Giclee printing can also be referred to as photographic ink jet printing.

Giclee prints are made using no rotary screen or other mechanical cylinders such as a flexographic or rotagravure. Because of this fact, there are no visible dot screen dither patterns present.

Giclee prints and canvas prints are sometimes made over 1 metre wide and if needed, can be printed the entire length of the canvas roll.

Giclee prints are produced on paper or canvas. If your canvas photo needs to be a bit hard wearing then opt for a canvas printprinted onto canvas and not paper. Paper has the tendency to crease and fold more than cotton canvas does.

The latest technologies and developments in the printing industry have made this impossible feat a possibility. When this form of canvas printing was introduced, it was quite expensive and only a few people went for this option though many loved this art. However, the cost of canvas printing is becoming more and more affordable with the increasing competition in the marketplace. So now you can have your special moments captured on to a canvas print.

When you want to have any of your photos converted to canvas, the original photo that you use to convert should be of high enough resolution. Do we need to diversify? November 3, 2008

Filed under: Canvas Prints Info — canvasprints @ 1:09 am

There are lots of canvas printing companies embarking on diversifying their product ranges. Not us.

CanvasDezign is a canvas printing company through and through, always has been, always will be.  Our prime focus is supplying quality canvas prints to our customers and we believe this attitude is reflected in the feedback we get from you.

There are lots of companies coming into the canvas printing industry from other areas to diversify. There are also canvas printing companies tring to diversify into other markets such as canvas stretcher bar selling.

Again, not at CanvasDezign. We have always made canvas prints and thats all we want to do.

When you are choosing a good canvas printer in the UK, this is something you should consider. Have they always made canvas prints and do they operate in other areas to try and support their core business, canvas printing.

Another question is if the canvas printing companies are doing so well, why do they need to do other things like sell stretcher bars??

We recently aquired some samples from a so called leading canvas printer / stretcher bar supplier and the quality was shocking. They were rough, poorly cut and looked like they had been on a boat for three weeks. If I had been down to B&Q , bought a few lumps of wood and chopped them up in my bedroom, I truly believe I could not done a worse job than was done on the samples.

Canvas after care November 3, 2008

Filed under: Canvas Prints Info — canvasprints @ 12:23 am

When we send our customers newly printed canvas prints we also send a copy of the canvas art care sheet.

We have enclosed a copy here

Follow these steps and your canvas will continue to brighten up your living space for years to come.

Do not use any form of liquid or chemical products to clean your canvas, or you may damage it. A soft dust brush can be used periodically to remove settled dust.

Make sure your print is displayed in a stable, moisture-free environment and is kept at a safe distance from
any sources of direct heat such as a fireplace.

Hanging your canvas art couldn’t be simpler. The design of our frames means you can rest the piece on a simple nail or screw in your wall. This allows the print to be mounted flat to the wall with no gap at the top.

Thanks again for your order and come back soon – The CanvasDezign team
